Former Manchester City striker Shaun Goater is not surprised by Pep Guardiolas angry reaction to Raheem Sterlings showboating during the 3-1 victory over Untied.Sterling angered Juan Mata with a series of step-overs in stoppage time and Guardiola gave his winger a very public ticking-off at the full-time whistle.3

The City boss later warned Sterling not to indulge in such antics, saying: He made some movements with the legs, we can avoid it, but he is young, he can improve.Goater believes showboating goes against Guardiolas philosophy, but argues Sterling probably didnt mean to be disrespectful.The boys are just really enjoying themselves, he told talkSPORT.Young Phil Foden was part of that little keep-ball in the corner; it was like five versus four in a telephone box.It seemed like a bit of mickey taking but its just the level of confidence.One thing I get from watching City and Guardiola is that he wouldnt want his players to take the mickey out of top professionals.3

I think its just the confidence theyre in, they probably didnt see it as taking the mickey, they probably thought were keeping the ball, you cant get it, this is the level were at.City taught their neighbours a footballing lesson at the Etihad as goals from David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Ilkay Gundogan sealed a comfortable victory despite a second-half penalty from Anthony Martial.The effervescent David Silva was exceptional once again and Goater, who made 189 appearances for City, believes the Spaniard will go down as one of the greatest in the clubs history.3

He is just a delight to watch, Goater added.He makes it look so easy. For someone who isnt the tallest, he just dominates games with his composure and calmness. His particular chance, I think nine out of ten players hit that first time, but he takes a touch across and that takes all of the defenders out of the picture because theyre desperate to get that block in.When they lose the ball, can they win it back immediately? David Silva is instrumental in that as well, hes always there backing up the forwards when they press to win balls back.
