Celtic booked their place in the Scottish Cup sixth round with a thumping 5-0 defeat of St Johnstone – with Scott Sinclair helping himself to a hat-trick at Parkhead.The Hoops forward squeezed in the opener in the third minute before skipper Scott Brown thundered in a 30-yard drive six minutes later.2Returning winger James Forrest added a third in the 52nd minute, with Sinclair scoring twice more in a one-sided affair to seal the cup holders’ place in Monday night’s quarter-final draw.Celtic had beaten Tommy Wright’s side 2-0 both home and away in the Premiership before their midweek win over Hibernian and it was their fifth victory of the season over the Perth side, who are on the slide after five successive defeats.Brendan Rodgers’ team have now won seven matches out of seven since the turn of the year, scoring 21 goals and conceding none as they turn their attentions to Thursday night’s first leg of a Europa League tie against Valencia.The visitors’ chances of pulling off a cup shock ended almost before they had started.When striker Oliver Burke burst all too easily through the Perth defence it looked like he made an error in squaring the ball instead of shooting as Sinclair was at an acute angle.However, the Hoops winger beat Zander Clark at his near post, with the McDiarmid Park keeper looking culpable. What remaining belief Saints had – and it could not have been much – evaporated when Brown picked up a clearance and arrowed a drive high past the flailing Clark for his first counter in two years.The visitors struggled to cope with Celtic’s movement and fluidity.However, just after the half-hour mark, Parkhead keeper Scott Bain had to throw himself to his right to push away a Chris Kane drive and the home side defended consecutive corners.Wright swapped midfielder Sean Goss with Tony Watt for the start of the second half while Kristoffer Ajer replaced Celtic centre-back Jozo Simunovic.The visitors tried to press Celtic high but that left gaps and Burke was sent racing clear by a wonder Ryan Christie pass, but he looked off-balance as his weak attempt at a shot went straight to Clark.2Moments later in another swift Celtic counter, however, left-back Jonny Hayes, in for injured Emilio Izaguirre, sped through the middle before laying the ball off to Forrest, who slotted in from 12 yards.Two minutes later, after Forrest had set up Burke, Sinclair tapped in from close range.A rout similar to the 6-0 win over Saints in October was threatened and it should have been five when Christie headed over a Forrest cross.Defender Niall Keown, on loan from Partick Thistle, replaced winger Matty Kennedy to make his St Johnstone debut as the visitors sought to limit any further damage.Christie made way for French striker Odsonne Edouard and, in the final minute, after the latter’s shot fell to him inside the Saints box, Sinclair slammed his third in from 10 yards, taking his tally to an impressive 16 so far this season.

10. Eric Djemba-Djemba (Manchester United)

Strange signings made by Sir Alex Ferguson could have its own sub-category. Earmarked a successor to the mighty Roy Keane, the Cameroonian proved he was completely out of his depth at Old Trafford. While he may have had a similar aggressive style to the Irishman, thats where the comparisons ended for Djemba-Djemba, who after 18 awful months, left for Aston Villa, much to the relief of United supporters.8

9. Jozy Altidore (Hull City, Sunderland)

Strong, quick and able to hold up the ball, the American was the archetypal striker, only problem being he could not find the back of the net. Clumsy on the ball and erratic in front of goal, Altidore scored just twice across two spells in the Premier League, totalling 70 appearances.8

8. Bebe (Manchester United)

Recommended by former assistant manager Carlos Queiroz, Bebe was signed by United with Ferguson only meeting the player the day before he completed his transfer. Bebe failed to enjoy quite the same success as his Portuguese compatriots Cristiano Ronaldo and Nani and after two Premier League matches and countless loan spells over four years, he finally left.8

7. Marco Boogers (West Ham United)

After a decade playing in his native Holland, Boogers was signed by the Hammers without then manager Harry Redknapp having ever seen him play.Boogers lasting impression on the Premier League was made to the shin of Gary Neville, earning him a straight red card. Four more substitute appearances followed before he was deemed surplus to requirements.

6. Yaya Sanogo (Arsenal)

Cruelly dubbed Sanogoals for his failure to score, the gangly Frenchman was awkward and cloddish, somehow bumbling his way through 20 appearances for the Gunners, netting just once. Although it was the opener in a Champions League tie with Borussia Dortmund.8

5. Winston Bogarde (Chelsea)

Usually one of the first names on a worst signing list, the Dutchman spent much of his time at Stamford Bridge, while picking up 40,000 a week, on the bench. Only the 11 matches in four years tells its own story and Bogarde promptly retired in 2005.8

4. Iago Aspas (Liverpool)

To this day, Liverpool supporters still remember Aspas for that corner during their crucial 2-0 defeat to Chelsea which ended their challenge for the title. Lightweight and not particularly quick, he never looked liked scoring in the Premier League and he didnt, with his only strike coming in a cup clash against the mighty Oldham Athletic.8

3. Amaury Bischoff (Arsenal)

A bizarre signing by Arsene Wenger and one many Arsenal fans will struggle to even recall. The midfielder made four appearances in the cup competitions and played once in the Premier League for 26 minutes. Strange.8

2. Massimo Taibi (Manchester United)

Named man of the match on his debut against Liverpool, life began promisingly for the Italian, who had been drafted into replace Peter Schmeichel. His time at the club however, would quickly turn into a nightmare, when he conceded a howler against Matt Le Tissier and only played four more times, one of those being a 5-0 thrashing away to Chelsea.8

Without doubt, the worst Premier League player in history, Dia is believed to have called a number of clubs claiming to be the legendary George Weahs cousin. Saints manager Graeme Souness took the gamble and gave him his chance. After 53 minutes of aimless running and showing no football acumen whatsoever, he was eventually taken off never to be seen again.
