The incidents were claimed to have occurred in January, after Sturridge left Anfield to join West Brom on loan for the remainder of the 2017/18 season. And now The Sun reveal that the breaches were to do with Sturridge’s move to the Hawthorns. It is reported that bookies became suspicious when phone calls were received asking for the price on Sturridge joining West Brom, with the now Championship club not even quoted on the betting list 15 days before his loan switch. The 29-year-old is reported to have been priced at 66/1 to make the switch, before it dropped to 5/2 in the 24 hours the move was confirmed. It is further claimed that there was one attempt to bet 5,000 on the move, though the punter was forced to lay down just 30 as that was the highest stake accepted.A Liverpool statement made it clear Sturridge denies the charge. He has until 6pm on November 20 to respond.
