Mauricio Pochettino believes Tottenham’s players are sure to be inspired by the atmosphere inside their new stadium, having finally played their first match at the stunning ground.Spurs returned home after a six-month delay to open the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Wednesday evening, with Crystal Palace the first visitors – and losers – at the 1billion structure.After an opening ceremony that involved choirs, tenors and fireworks the game itself took a while to spark into life – Heung-min Son writing his name in the history books with the first goal at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium before Christian Eriksen wrapped up a 2-0 win.1While securing victory on their big night was important, the three points also sees Tottenham move into third having picked up their first Premier League win since February 10.Where other clubs have struggled to adjust to new homes in the past, Pochettino believes his side will not suffer the same fate as they battle for a top-four finish.The Argentine is so sure his players will be motivated by the atmosphere in the new stadium, he suggests those NOT inspired must have ‘something wrong with their heads’.“I feel so proud,” he said. “I am so happy and it is difficult to describe, the emotions and it was very emotional before the start of the game. It was very emotional, all the build-up of the game.“For sure for the opponent it is going to be difficult. If like me I am the manager of Tottenham or I am playing for Tottenham, you adapt so quickly in this atmosphere and I think it was amazing.“It is impossible not to be affected by your fans, the energy and emotion to be there and run, shoot, save and tackle.“If you are not motivated to play in this type of atmosphere something wrong happened in your head. For sure it is going to be tough for the opponent.

Atlanta fans were likely wondering just the same when Almiron arrived in Major League Soccer in December 2016 for a reported league transfer record fee of $8 million.But from the moment Miggy – as he is affably known to Atlanta fans – stepped onto the pitch, it was apparent that the playmaker was going to more than satisfy the amount that was paid to secure his services.What stands out right away is his pace. A swift carrier of the ball, with a lovely left foot, hes the type of player that actually becomes quicker when dribbling, and is very positive in the path he takes.2Not known for being one to settle into possession and stroke the ball about, once Almiron is on the ball he is looking to get forward with great urgency. Hes frightening to the opposition on the counter attack. His energy and attitude also set him apart. He will put in the work regardless of the occasion.In MLS, there were unpleasant games such as in the baltic cold and snow-filled pitch away to Minnesota United and Almiron would be chasing players, closing them down all over the pitch, just as would in the more glamorous games at Mercedes Benz Stadium in front of a sold-out 70,000 crowd. There was never too big or small an occasion that Almiron didnt put his best left foot forward. He is desperate to do well in every moment and will put the grind in wherever he plays in England.2Finally, he can be ruthless in the final third. In 62 regular season matches for Atlanta United, he scored 21 goals and created 28 more.The numbers may not knock the socks off, but its about how he opens up space for others around him. There isnt a better example than Atlanta Uniteds striker Josef Martinez, the Golden Boot and MVP winner of MLS last season. Martinezs fine record was largely down to the service provided by his chief support act, Almiron.

Are there are any question marks? Well, it will be a challenge for him to adapt to the physical side of the British game. While sadly a hearty tackle in all of football seems to be of times past, the difference to what referees allow in MLS compared to the Premier League is that of a pillow fight when compared to a street fight. It will be interesting to see how Almiron handles a heavy challenge, and having less time to work his magic on the ball.He does cut a very slim frame, but maybe his pace will translate enough to skip away from bodies. He will also have to handle the pressure of the Premier League and, potentially, a relegation battle.It is one thing playing on a side that is arguably one of the most exciting MLS teams in the history of the league, in a culture that is always eager to offer as much praise as possible. Its another thing being in the pressure cooker that is the Premier League, where players are fighting for their place and reputation every day. Almiron has yet to be seen as a player that would shrink back, but at the same time, he is yet to be placed under such heavy expectations. The bottom line is this transfer could prove to be a very astute one for both Rafa Benitez and Darren Eales, the Atlanta United president.For Benitez, hes put his trust in his contacts such as Tata Martino, the recently-departed Atlanta United manager, and has demonstrated his faith in Almiron by convincing the club to shell out a record fee for the first time since Michael Owen was tempted to swap the Bernabeu for St James Park in 2005.And for Eales, his faith in Almirons worth has been rewarded, after reportedly turning down lesser offers during this past season.Time will tell whether he proves a good signing for Newcastle. Im certainly backing Miggy to make his mark in England.

Cardiff – Emiliano Sala (Nantes)

Chelsea – Gonzalo Higuain (Juventus)

Chelsea are in need of a natural goalscorer and it looks like they’re finally going to get one in the form of Gonzalo Higuain.The Juventus man, who has spent the first half of the season on loan at AC Milan, is expected to move on loan in January with the option to extend it for a further 12 months in the summer.

Crystal Palace – Cenk Tosun (Everton)

Crystal Palace missed out on striker Cenk Tosun a year ago after he chose to join Everton from Besiktas, however, things have not gone to plan for the Turkey international.Marco Silva does not appear to rate Tosun that highly as he has been restricted to appearances from the bench more often than not.And the Liverpool Echo claims Palace are willing to go for Tosun again as they desperately search for an out-and-out striker to add some much-needed goals to their game.14

Everton – Ryan Fraser (Bournemouth)

Exciting changes are going on at Everton but most of their transfer dealings in January are likely to see players leave Goodison Park rather than come in.However, they could be ready to pounce on Ryan Fraser, who is yet to sign a new deal at the Cherries, with The Sun reporting Everton are monitoring the situation.

Fulham – Gary Cahill (Chelsea)

In truth, it would probably do Fulham good not to bring any more players in as they’re a squad full of new faces with little idea how to play together.But if they were to bring in someone else, then a defensive leader is what they need as the Cottagers have been far too easy to breach at the back this season.14And Chelsea centre-back Gary Cahill could be on his way to the Blues’ west London rivals after his links with Arsenal have gone quiet.

Huddersfield – A new manager

Huddersfield need a miracle to stay up and could do with multiple new signings. But they need to get someone in to manage the players first following David Wagner’s departure on Monday.Under-19s coach Mark Hudson has been put in charge for the Terriers’ Premier League clash at home to Manchester City on Sunday – a game you can listen to live on talkSPORT– and if they can get a result then that could give him the job full-time.14But given Huddersfield are bottom of the division and eight points off safety, the manager’s job is something of a poisoned chalice.

Leicester City – Brendan Rodgers (Celtic)

Leicester have hit something of a rut lately through their Carabao Cup and FA Cup exits in quick succession.They’re clearly suffering from losing their best player in Riyad Mahrez over the summer and manager Claude Puel’s future is looking very uncertain.Few players have been linked with moves to Leicester in January as there seems to be little appeal to go there at the moment so perhaps a new manager is what the club needs.14Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a move to the King Power Stadium, but the Celtic boss has stayed true to conventions and distanced himself from the role in public.

Liverpool – Weston McKennie (Schalke)
