Sergio Aguero was again rested and Raheem Sterling and Phil Foden dropped to the bench.There were suggestions kick-off could be delayed because hundreds of the approximately 3,000 Burton fans due to attend were caught up in traffic problems, but police said the game was still due to go ahead at 7.45pm.Twenty-eight supporters’ coaches set off from Burton earlier in the day and the majority of them were caught up in tailbacks due to a police incident on the M6 in Staffordshire.3By kick-off, a good number of Brewers fans had managed to make it to the ground and the game went ahead as scheduled.The firstManchester Citygoal came after just five minutes when Silva’s cross from the left picked out De Bruyne and his downward header beat goalkeeper Brad Collins.The home side doubled their lead on 29 minutes as Sane took a return pass from Ilkay Gundogan in his stride and, when the ball looped up off Collins, Gabriel Jesus nodded in.Jesus had his second goal of the night shortly afterwards as Silva cushioned another Gundogan pass into his path before the Brazilian took his time to blast home a left-footed shot off the right-hand post.3The flurry continued with Alexander Zinchenko getting in on the act in the 37th minute – the third goal in seven minutes.His cross from the left flew over the head of keeper Collins and nestled in the net.Mahrez was denied by Collins as City looked for a fifth, but it was 4-0 at the break.Good work from Silva and Mahrez presented Jesus with an easy header to complete his hat-trick in the 57th minute.It was the forward’s second treble of the season. Fotherby joined the Leeds board in 1978 and then as managing director worked closely with former chairman Leslie Silver in reviving the club’s fortunes.Fotherby was instrumental in persuading Howard Wilkinson to leave Sheffield Wednesday and succeed Billy Bremner as manager in 1988.
