He is the future for the club. I hope he gets more time on the pitch. Hes already on a level where he can play in the Premier League day-in day-out. But hes still young and the coaches will know how to handle him. Manchester City forward Raheem Sterling has criticised newspapers for their treatment of young black players in comparison to their white compatriots.Sterling was allegedly racially abused during City’s defeat at Chelsea on Saturday, and the England forward took to Instagram the following day to claim the media ‘helps fuel racism’.1He says he expected no better at Stamford Bridge, and compares two Daily Mail stories involving two of his City team-mates.The subject of the first story, titled ‘Young Manchester City footballer, 20, on 25,000 a week splashes out on mansion on market for 2.25million despite having never started a Premier League match’, is defender Tosin Adarabioyo, the England youth international who is of Nigerian descent.Stockport born Phil Foden, considered England’s big great hope for the future, is discussed in the second story, which is headlined: ‘Manchester City starlet Phil Foden buys new 2m home for his mum’.Adarabioyo is criticised for spending such a sum despite having never played a Premier League match, while he is claimed to have earned a 25,000-a-year contract earlier this year after threatening to leave the club. Foden, on the other hand, is ‘determined to keep [his] close-knit family together despite his emergence as one of England’s outstanding talents’, and has ‘set up a future in Manchester’.Sterling says the media’s portrayal of these two similar stories paint the ‘young black players’ in a negative light.“I am not normally the person to talk a lot but when I think I need my point to (sic) heard I will speak up,” Sterling writes.“Regarding what was said at the Chelsea game as you can see by my reaction I just had to laugh because I don’t expect no (sic) better.“For example you have two young players starting out there (sic) careers both play for the same team, both have done the right thing. Which is buy a new house for there (sic) mothers who have put in a lot of time and love into helping them get where they are, but look how the news papers get there (sic) message across for the young black player and then for the young white player.“I think this in (sic) unacceptable both innocent have not done a thing wrong but just by the way it has been worded. This young black kid is looked at in a bad light.“Which helps fuel racism an aggressive behaviour, so for all the news papers that don’t understand why people are racist in this day and age all I have to say is have a second though about fair publicity an (sic) give all players an equal chance.”  Chelsea and the Metropolitan Police confirmed they are investigating the alleged racial abuse directed at Sterling on Saturday evening.The FA condemned all forms of discrimination and pledged itself to tackling this issue.“We take all allegations of discrimination extremely seriously and will work with the clubs and the relevant authorities to ensure this matter is dealt with appropriately,” the statement read.“We strongly condemn all forms of discrimination and encourage all fans and participants who believe that they have been the subject of, or witness to, discriminatory abuse to report it through the appropriate channels: The FA, our County FAs or our partners Kick It Out.”Campaign group Kick it Out has offered its support to the player following his social media comments.“We stand alongside him and any other player who has to endure this kind of abuse,” the organisation posted on Twitter.Chelsea have promised to “take the strongest possible action where necessary” following Saturday’s incident.Blues supporter Lord Coe, president of the International Association of Athletics Federations, echoed that and called for any abusive fans identified to receive lifetime bans from the club.“If the person, or the group that were abusing him are identified then they should be banned from our club for life,” he told BBC Five Live’s Sportsweek programme.“Nobody is tougher on that than I am.”
